The poison ivy is dissipating. Thank God!
Today would have been the 23rd birthday of my friend from ROTC, PJ, who died just a few weeks ago. I'm not one to believe
in devine intervention or psychic intuition but one very unusual thing about his passing was that for the last couple months I had
been saving a voicemail that he left on my cell phone. It wasn't particularly hilarious or otherwise special in and of itself, but for
some reason every time my voicemail asked me if I wanted to deleted the message I always opted to save it. At the time I didn't
understand why I was inclined to save that voicemail, which would turn out to be the last phone message he would ever leave me.
It was probably nothing more than a coincidence, but it was a very unusual and fortunate coincidence. I guess it sounds kind of
creepy to have a saved voicemail from a deceased friend on your cell phone, but in a very unusual way, I suppose it's something
for me to remember him by.

God speed, Discovery!
I am covered all up and down one side with poison ivy and it is
not pleasant! I had to miss two parties and a road race because of
this insufferable rash! My right arm and leg are wrapped in roller
gauze to prevent it from spreading any further but the amount of
irritation I am currently enduring is nothing short of maddening.
Fortunately, I only have half a day of work today, which is good since
I could barely even get out of bed this morning! Ohhhh... I am NOT
